American Sycamore

Platanus occidentalis

Easily recognizable by its mottled bark, this is a grand tree that can grow 10+ feet in diameter! The trunks can get so huge that flocks of chimney swifts and black bears will often use hollow trunks as habitat. Given enough space, this tree will make a statement in any garden.
