About the 2020 Native Plants Sale
Maine Audubon wants to make it as easy as possible to research, find, and grow native plants, even though our facilities remain closed. We have officially launched our new online plant finder, the first website of its kind that is specific to Maine plants. At mainenativeplants.org, you can find the native plants best suited for specific sites, that provide the greatest ecological function and benefit, and which will complement your landscape design. Using this online tool, you can search by bloom time, sunlight, plant height, caterpillars hosted, and benefits to wildlife.
Many of the plants featured in the Maine Native Plant Finder are now available for sale, although we unfortunately cannot allow in-person browsing or advice. Due to the pandemic restrictions, the fifth annual Native Plant Sale & Festival scheduled for June 13 is cancelled and our horticulture operations are closed to the public. Instead, starting June 8, you will be able to place orders online and pick up plants curbside at the farmhouse at Gilsland Farm in Falmouth.
Purchasing, scheduling, and pickup
All ordering will go through this website:
Plants will be available for pickup on Thursdays and Fridays, 10 am-4 pm. To keep the numbers of people down, we ask that you schedule a time to pick up your plants. Please click here to select one of the hour-long time slots.
You will receive email confirmations for both the purchase and the scheduled appointment.
Plants can be picked up at the Farmhouse at Gilsland Farm. It is located on your right as you drive in the driveway, next to the big barn. If you pass the solar panels, you have gone too far.
Please pull into the parking area and park. Orders will be available and labeled by last name. If you have plant flats or boxes of your own, feel free to bring them for transporting items to your car. In order to ensure the safety of staff and the public, staff will not be able to help you carry plants to your car. You will need to pick up your plants and load your car independently. Pickups will be available rain or shine.
Please note: Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and our commitment to keeping our staff, facilities, and communities safe, we unfortunately cannot allow in-person browsing or advice before purchasing. Please observe all signage and direction, and respect our distancing. All sales will be contactless and final, and we will do our best to ensure that you leave satisfied. We also look forward to seeing and hearing from you again soon.
